Strood Town District Girl Guides
Welcome to Strood Town District Guide Association, part of Girlguiding UK, the UK's largest voluntary organisation for girls and young women.
We aim to help girls and young women develop emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually so that they can make a positive contribution to their community and the wider world.
Girlguiding UK believes in the value of learning by doing. We do this by following the Five Essentials of guiding:
- working together in small groups
- encouraging self-government and decision making
- a balanced and varied programme
- caring for the individual
- sharing a commitment to a common standard
Girls of all ages experience fun and friendship at our meeting places all over Strood Town, on various different nights of the week.
We now have three Rainbow units (ages 5-7 years), four Brownie units (ages 7–11 years), three Guide units (ages 10-15 years) and one Ranger unit (ages 14-26 years). We even have a Trefoil Guild for women aged 18 years and over.
In 2010 Girlguiding UK will be celebrating 100 years of Guiding! Strood Town District are proud to say that we have been around for over 80 years!
We have developed this website so that you can find out more about Guiding in your area, and see what we will be doing to celebrate the Centenary.
We would love to hear your comments, suggestions and questions.
Yours
Mrs Sarah Roots
Strood Town District Commissioner
